How to Make a Stock Donation
Online Donation via Stock Donator
You can donate stock to the Friends of the CEELI Institute using the Stock Donator widget on our Donate page, or go directly to stockdonator.com.
Please note: The Stock Donator website is only accessible from within the United States. If you are located outside the U.S., please use the broker/financial advisor option below, or contact donations@ceeli.eu for assistance.
Visit our Stock Donator page: Click the "Donate Stock" button on our Donate page, or go to stockdonator.com and search for "Friends of the CEELI Institute" in the nonprofit directory.
Initiate your donation: Follow the instructions to select the type and number of shares you wish to donate. You will need to provide your broker information and authorize the transfer.
Stock transfer and sale: Once initiated, the stock is transferred to a brokerage account managed by Stock Donator. Stocks are generally sold within a few business days, but the timing can vary depending on the speed of processing.
Via Broker or Financial Advisor
If you prefer not to use the online Stock Donator platform and would rather have your broker or financial advisor handle your donation, please follow the steps below and share this guidance with your broker:
Complete the Stock Donation Form (available from stockdonator.com).
Choose one of the following options:
Option 1: You or your broker initiate the transfer directly
Transfer the stock directly from your brokerage account to Stock Donator's account on behalf of the Friends of the CEELI Institute.
Stock Donator will not need access to your personal account details — only a confirmation of the transfer.
Once the transfer is initiated, email the completed form to communications@stockdonator.com so they can match the gift to your intent and process it accordingly.
Option 2: Have Stock Donator initiate the transfer on your behalf
Provide Stock Donator with the necessary details of your brokerage account by filling in the relevant sections on the form.
Stock Donator will then work directly with your financial institution to initiate the stock transfer.
This option may be more convenient for some donors, but it requires you to share limited account information (name of brokerage, account number, etc.).
Email the completed form to communications@stockdonator.com so the donation can be processed.
Regardless of the option you choose, please send a copy of the completed form to communications@stockdonator.com. This ensures Stock Donator can process your gift quickly and direct it to the Friends of the CEELI Institute.
Please Note
Stock sales may take a few business days after the transfer is received. The final donation amount may vary slightly depending on the sale price.
For donor recognition, we will acknowledge the estimated value at the time of transfer, unless you request otherwise.
You will receive a receipt for tax purposes once the donation is processed and the sale is completed.
