The CEELI Institute Formalizes Its Commitment to the UN SDG 16 Action Platform: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions

The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by all UN Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. To further implement those goals, corporate leaders from across the globe have joined together in an effort known as the Global Compact. In October 2020, the CEELI Institute formally joined the Action Platform for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, which is a UN Global Compact initiative whose focus includes providing access to justice for all and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels (the core goals of Sustainable Development Goal 16). The Action Platform more specifically aims to develop and promote global business standards in understanding, implementing and reporting on businesses’ engagement in these areas. As a partner organization, the CEELI Institute joins patron businesses, including our corporate sponsor Nestle S.A., and other likeminded civil society organizations dedicated to having an open dialogue that results in concrete action towards improving accountability, integrity and transparency within businesses and the countries where they operate.
