The 2021 Judicial Exchange Network Annual Conference

23 June 2021, 4.30pm – 7pm CEST

As the CEE Judicial Network celebrates its eight year, we are delighted to announce our Eighth Annual Conference, to once again gather our Network members from across the region to engage on issues that are most pressing for the judicial profession. This year’s program takes place against a background of unprecedented change that has seen many judicial systems in CEE struggle with implementation of remote and digital justice solutions as a means of keeping the courts functioning in an accountable manner while maintaining access to justice during the global pandemic.

In keeping with pandemic restrictions, this year’s Annual Conference will be virtual; we will have a two and half hour format of panels and discussion, which will include a 15 minute break.

We will use this year’s conference to look specifically at issues with implementation of digital solutions, and we will hear from experts in the field about risks and challenges. We will look at progress in the region as we begin to return to more normal, post-pandemic conditions. And we will share the results of our region wide survey on Digitalisation and the Courts.

We will look at the continuing threats to the independence on the judiciary and independent administration of justice in the region, and the strains this places on individual judges. Special attention will be given to conditions in Poland, as a bell-weather for government attacks on the judiciary and the rule of law.

We invite you to join us to discuss these themes which are of relevance to all judges and others working in the justice sector in the region who care about the rule of law.
